Operating Principle
- The fluid’s kinetic energy circulating between the primary (pump wheel) and secondary (turbine wheel) in a sealed chamber transmits power
- The rotating fluid in the chamber transfers energy through centrifugal and tangential forces
- The scoop chamber rotates with the pump wheel, and the scoop tube adjusts to maintain the proper oil level inside the impeller
- The scoop tube is controlled by a rotary actuator and can be remotely operated automatically via PLC
- By adjusting the oil volume inside the coupling, stepless speed control from 25% to 100% of rated speed is possible; the heat generated by slip losses is dissipated through an external heat exchanger
